• Berberis vulgaris is used in several medical purposes, including liver protection, anti-oxidant, antimicrobial agent. It also seems to reduce the level of cholesterol in the blood and triglycerides.
• A few small studies have shown that artichoke can improve liver function for people with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.
• Several scientific studies suggest that substances in milk thistle (especially a flavonoid called silymarin) protect the liver from toxins
• Silymarin has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
• Preliminary research suggests that dandelion may help improve liver and gallbladder function.
